Frequently Asked Questions

What are your business hours?
We are open from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

What aged children do you accept?
We accept children from 6 weeks old through 5 years old.

Do you provide school age care?
Yes, We also provide before and/or after school care for children up to grade 5. We have children bused to and from Schuylkill Elementary, PAELC, Manavon Elementary, and Renaissance. We have awesome options as well as newly added special activities such as gymnastics, soccer, Spanish lessons, etc. all included in tuition.

Do you have a curriculum?
Yes, we use Creative Curriculum™ in line with the Pennsylvania State Standards for Early Childhood Education to create a developmentally appropriate learning environment to meet each child's learning needs. This includes observation, planning and assessment.

Do you provide meals?
Yes! We provide two snacks and a nutritious lunch. Children are given water with snacks and milk with lunch. We also have a vegetarian option on a daily basis. All included in tuition!

What do you do about food allergies?
We keep close track of the children's allergies and will make any accommodations necessary. We welcome any replacement items that you would like your child to have however, we will make all accommodations that we can so you do not have to provide anything.

What happens if my child needs medication?
We have a medicine log where you would fill out all of the necessary information we need to administer the medication for your child. Medications must be in their original packaging and must be prescribed to the child.

What happens if my child becomes ill at school?
If your child has a very high fever, is vomiting, has diarrhea or is exhibiting symptoms of a contagious illness, you will be notified and asked to pick the child up. In cases requiring medication, we ask that the child only return to our care after 24 hrs on medication. Illnesses are dealt with on a case by case basis. Throughout the day we will keep in contact with the parents to update them of their child's symptoms.

What are your pick-up and drop-off guidelines?
Children are escorted to their classroom by a parent and must be picked up from a teacher. We ask that all children are supervised in our parking area and are not permitted to enter or leave the building unsupervised. If your child will be picked up by someone other than a parent, we require you to fill out a pick-up request log containing all of the information we need to release your child to the pick-up person. This person will also need to show ID to a staff member upon arriving at the center. If there is any question about whether or not we can release your child to this person, you will be contacted for verification.

How do you keep the building secure?
We have collaborated with a national security company that specializes in child care and will be more than happy to discuss our building security when you tour. To remain as safe and secure as possible, we do not want to advertise this information. Be sure to talk with the director when you come!

How do I keep in touch with my child's teacher?
The use of Kangarootime, our convenient parent app, allows our teachers to share with you real-time updates on your child’s day as well as pictures so you can feel like you are a part of their day. Also, parents are welcome in the school at all times, and we encourage daily conversation with your child's teacher. All of our teachers can be reached by phone or email. The times the teachers are available vary by classroom.

How do I know what is going on in the school?
Each classroom sends home a monthly calendar, you will be put on our email and texting list for events, activities, and news, and we also post information on Facebook. The teachers will send home a monthly newsletter which contains all necessary information and updates in your child's specific classroom.

I really have a problem, what should I do?
We encourage you to go to your child's teacher with any concerns you may have. If you feel your needs have not been met, the director is always open to discussions to help resolve any problems you may have. Also, please do not hesitate to contact the Vice President or President of Magic Memories. We strive to provide the absolute highest quality child care and any questions, concerns, comments or suggestions that can improve our standards are always welcome.

What qualifications do your teachers have?
We expect the best from our teachers and staff, all Lead Teacher are required to have their CDA, Associates, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Over half of our teachers have degrees in Education or Early Childhood Education or are working towards a degree or certification in those fields. Our teachers also have many years of experience working with young children. We would be happy to share the individual qualifications of our teachers if you so request.

What about staff turn-over?
Working with children is a difficult job and it takes a special person to do it. We seek the best people for the job, and we choose the best candidates after our interviewing process, but after an employee is chosen, we take some time to determine if this person is right for our school. Each teacher is trained and observed for the first few months of employment at which point, we decide together if this person is someone that can bring positive educational experiences and love to your children.
